Cardinal Christoph Schönborn
Archbishop of Vienna, Austria

Christoph Schönborn was born on January, 22nd 1945 in Skalken, Bohemia (now Czech Republic). He moved to Austria in September 1945. In 1963, he entered the Order of Preachers.

He studied in Germany, France and Austria (philosophy and psychology, theology, Slavic and Byzantine Christianity). He was ordained to the priesthood on December 27th 1970 in Vienna. He completed a doctorate in Sacred Theology in Paris in 1974.

He then became chaplain, Professor of Dogmatics, and assistant Professor of Oriental Christian Theology. He also worked in various Commissions. Since 1980, he is a member of the International Theological Commission and, since 1984, of the Pro Oriente Foundation. He was the editorial Secretary for the Catechism of the Catholic Church from 1987 to 1992.

In 1992, Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Vienna, then Coadjutor Archbishop. He succeeded to cardinal Groër in 1995, preached the Lenten spiritual exercises in Vatican in 1996. In June 1998, he was elected President of the Austrian Episcopal conference. He has published a great number of books and lectures, especially on European issues. He was created Cardinal by Pope John Paul II on February, 21st 1998.

Cardinal Cláudio Hummes
Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy

Born in Brazil, Cláudio Hummes was ordained a priest in the Franciscan order in 1958. Teacher, then president of the Union of Latin American Conferences of Franciscans, he was appointed Bishop in 1975 and Archbishop of Sao Paulo in 1998.
He was created Cardinal by Pope John Paul II in 2001, and in October 2006, he was called to the Roman Curia as Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy. He is also a member of a large number of other pontifical Congregations and Counsels.
   
   
 
Cardinal André Vingt-Trois
Archbishop of Paris, France
President of the French Episcopal conference

Born in Paris in 1942, André Vingt-Trois was ordained to the priesthood in 1969 for the diocese of Paris. In 1974, he was appointed director of the Seminary of Paris, then vicar general in 1981 and Auxiliary Bishop in 1988.
Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Paris in 2005 and Benedict XVI created him Cardinal in 2007. He is President of the French Episcopal Conference since 2007.
     
     
     
 
Cardinal Séan O’Malley
Archbishop of Boston, USA

Born in 1944 in the USA, Séan O’Malley was ordained to the priesthood in 1970 as a capuchin. He was appointed Coadjutor Bishop in 1984 and Bishop in 1985. He served successively for the dioceses of Saint Thomas (Carribean), Fall River (Massachusetts) and Palm Beach (Florida). Since 2003, he is the Archbishop of Boston. He was created Cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006.
 
     
     
 
Cardinal Christian Tumi
Archbishop of Douala, Cameroon

Born in Cameroon, Christian Tumi was ordained a priest in 1966 for the diocese of Buéa, Cameroon. After his studies in Nigeria, London and Paris, he became director of the Seminary of Bambui. He was appointed Bishop in 1979 and consecrated by Pope John Paul II himself. In 1982, he became Coadjutor Archbishop, then Archbishop of Garoua in 1984 and Archbishop of Douala in 1991. He was created Cardinal in 1988 by Pope John Paul II.
 
     
     
 
Cardinal Philippe Barbarin
Archbishop of Lyon, France
Primate of the Gauls


Born in Morocco in 1950, Philippe Barbarin studied in Paris and was ordained to the priesthood in 1977 for the diocese of Creteil (France). After 4 years of ministry in Madagascar, where he taught theology in the seminary, he was appointed Bishop of Moulins in 1998 and Archbishop of Lyon in 2002.
He was created Cardinal by Pope John Paul II in 2003.

Mgr Guy Bagnard
Bishop of Belley-Ars, France

Born in 1934, Guy Bagnard was ordained to the priesthood in 1965 for the diocese of Autun. Until 1984, he was a teacher in different Seminaries. He was appointed as Bishop of Belley-Ars in 1987.
Mgr Alberto Taveira Corrêa
Archbishop of Palmas, Brazil

Born in 1950, Alberto Taveira Corrêa was ordained a priest in 1973 for the diocese of Minas Gerais. In 1991, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Brasilia. In 1996, Pope John Paul II erected the new diocese of Palmas and appointed him Archbishop there.
 
Mgr Joseph Grech
Bishop of Sandhurst, Australia

Born in 1948 in Malta, Joseph Grech was ordained to priesthood in 1974 for the diocese of Melbourne, Australia. He was appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne in 1998, and Bishop of Sandhurst in 2001.

Born in 1952 in Montauban, France. Ordained to priesthood in 1986 in Toulouse. General Moderator of the St John Vianney Society since 1997. Incardinated in the SJVS in 2008 by the Congregation for the Clergy.

Priest of the Community of the Beatitudes

Born in 1947 in Metz, France. Entered the Community of the Beatitudes in 1976. Ordained a priest in 1985 for the diocese of Albi, for the Community of the Beatitudes. Certificate in mathematics, theology and canon law. Author of a great number of spiritual books, preacher.

Charismatic Renewal

Born in the USA. Married, mother of 4, among the first US catholic to discover the power of the Holy Spirit and the Charismatic Renewal. Author of a great number of books, preacher for the CCR. Received with her husband the papal medal Pro ecclesia et Pontifice.

 
Emmir Nogueira, Brazil
Co-founder of the Shalom Catholic Community

Born in Brazil. Married, mother of 4, member of the Shalom Community since 1982, general head of the formation in her community. Author 33 books on spirituality, formation and Lectio Divina, preacher.

 
Jean Vanier
Founder of « l’Arche », of « Faith and Sharing » and of « Faith and Light »

Born in 1928 in Canada. Officer of the Royal Canadian Navy, doctor in Philosophy. Since 1963, he lives with people with developmental disabilities. Author of a very great number of philosophical, anthropological and psychological books, preacher. Paul VI price in 1997.
